As diurnal creatures, humans are designed to be awake when it is light and asleep in the dark. This is why melatonin is the pace setter for the circadian rhythm. Aurora is a system that gives you control over your circadian rhythm together with a number of devices in your house. Aurora tackles 3 things; the electric lights in your house, the amount of blue light you absorb from screens and the amount of natural light in your house. By dimming the electric lights in your house and turning the screens of your devices redder it creates the right circumstances to start producing melatonin in the evening. In the morning it holds back the natural lights from outside until it is time to wake up. Then it slowly lets through more and more light to create a natural wake up moment. Here you can find the final report. Here you can read my reflection on the project. Below you can find a video of Aurora working.
